now that it's over...
i opened my eyes,
the clock beside me read 5:30..
then i sat on my bed,
still trying to calm myself down...
it's been a long night,
i tried to sleep at 10:30,
woke up at 12:30, used one hour to make myself sleep again,
and woke up again at 4:30...
after taking a bath (which i rarely do in the morning),
i walked to the SALT...
after all the warm up with mr kiang and preparations with the band,
we made our way to SCH...
time in SCH passed real quick,
in no time we are in the tuning room,
and out of it...
outside the door, i cant help but feel the tingling in my stomach,
the feeling that i always get when i feels nervous...
all out hard work depends on that moment,
how well we play there...
the door opens and we walked into the hall,
settling down as quickly as possible,
looking at the podium and trying hard to pretend that no one is in the audience seat,
though i know that it is not true...
i tried not to look at the adjudicators,
but still there's some of those unavoidable glimpse...
then mr leng came up,
we played through the two songs,
and i know that we didnt really play as well as we could,
but still i know we did our best,
conquering the fear is not really as easy as it looks...
relieved to know that we didnt exceed time,
as the only question from everyone after we played is:
"did we exceed time???? it's quite slow!!!"
after putting down the instrus,
walked into the hall and listened to the last band for the AM,
with their interesting performance...
the adjudicators then took their leave and only came back like a century after....
looking at mr siao,
i can see his happy smile, but not really that happy...
then i start wondering:
"isit a gold?"
the lady in front of the stage took forever to thank all sponsors,
and finally it's results time...
the tingling feeling returned and was at it's worst for band 85,
i know most of us felt it too...
then...
"band no. 86, hwa chong institution high school section,
gold...
with honours!"
that's when you see all of us cheering, shouting, and hugging...
chen yun is hugging me so tighting that i cant jump,
but yes, i do see ppl jumping...
all that hard work and effort finally paid off...
the "shhhh" came after a while...
and we sat back into our seats...
walking pass mr leng on our way out of the hall,
i saw tears in his eyes,
we are his first gwh band....
though the bus back to school is exceptionally quiet,
i know everyone is enjoying the results...
thank you all that contributed to our success,
the conductors,
the tutors,
the teachers,
the alumni,
the exco,
and the members...
thanks for giving me this day,
one of the happiest day of my life...
though they dont really understand what band means to me,
and i cant really explain it in words too,
thank my family for remembering that i have a event on too...
